En 2014, RFI est écoutée chaque semaine par 41,3 millions d'auditeurs, principalement africains, et son site web est visité par 15,2 millions d'internautes en moyenne chaque mois. Ses programmes sont également repris par plusieurs centaines de radios partenaires à travers le monde. Elle diffuse en français et dans 14 langues étrangères en RNT, ondes courtes et moyennes, en FM, sur le câble, le satellite et Internet. Elle est depuis 2008 une filiale de France Médias Monde, qui supervise l'audiovisuel extérieur de la France.
